Infant and child CPR for child care centers and schools
Georgia requires child care staff to be trained in CPR and first aid by a licensed health care professional, in person, with infant and child skills. That is exactly how CPRC teaches: two registered nurses, hands-on, at your center or school.
What Georgia's child care rules require
Every staff member who provides direct care to children must be certified in first aid and CPR within the first 90 days of employment, and whenever any child is present there must be a staff member on the premises trained in CPR and first aid. The training must be taught by a certified or licensed health care professional and cover emergency care for infants and children.
Georgia DECAL rule 591-1-1-.14 (child care learning centers)That is a summary of the general staff rule. Center directors have their own CPR and first aid schedule, and DECAL counts each training from the class date, not the card's printed date. Read DECAL's official First Aid and CPR guidance for your program type.
DECAL's guidance also says that online-only training and adult-only training do not meet the rule. Every CPRC class is in person, taught by registered nurses, and covers adult, child and infant CPR, AED use and choking response.
Built for a center's schedule
- We come to your center or school, so staff train together without travel.
- Evening and weekend classes, so you are not pulling teachers out of rooms.
- Infant and child manikins in every class, with a skills check for everyone.
- Official American Heart Association cards can be added for everyone, and you get a record of the training date for your staff files.
- A reminder from us before your team's two-year CPR certification expires.
Schools and after-school programs
Teachers, coaches, nurses' aides and after-school staff take the same hands-on class. Add First Aid for a fuller course covering the injuries and illnesses that come up at school.

Questions centers and schools ask
Does your training meet Georgia DECAL requirements?
DECAL requires CPR and first aid training taught by a certified or licensed health care professional that covers infants and children, and says online-only and adult-only training do not count. Our classes are in person, taught by registered nurses, and cover adult, child and infant CPR. Check your program's own rules for timing and record keeping.
How often does child care staff need to renew?
DECAL describes CPR as a two-year (biennial) training and first aid as a three-year (triennial) training for directors. American Heart Association CPR cards are valid for two years, and we remind you before they expire.
Can new hires join a later class?
Yes. Many centers book a class for the whole staff, then a smaller class for new hires within their first 90 days. One flat price covers your first 10 people, with a smaller per-person fee after that.
